I want to talk to you this morning from the topic” The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power.”

The blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary;
the blood that gives me strength from day to day,
it will never lose its power.
It reaches to the highest mountain, and it flows to the lowest valley;
the blood that gives me strength from day to day,
it will never lose its power.
In times like these you need to be assured and reassured that the blood that Jesus shed will never loose its power.
In every situation and every circumstance it will never lose its power.
At the top of the highest mountain it has power, to the lowest of valleys it has power.
And because it never loses power it gives me strength from day to day.
In our text today, Moses and Aaron had been going round after round with Pharoah.
You would remember that God called Moses to go tell Pharoah to let my People go. Moses went and he found opposition in the likeness of Pharoah.
Because of the hardness of Pharaohs heart the God sent plagues upon all of Egypt.
The plagues are:
water turning to blood,
frogs,
lice,
flies,
livestock pestilence,
boils,
hail,
locusts,
darkness
and the plague we will talk about today is the killing of firstborn children.

The final stroke against Egypt was the death of each firstborn.
Following God’s instructions, Moses moved the Israelites to hurried preparation.
They were told to ask gold and jewels from the Egyptians. The Lord would move their masters to give.
The Israelites were to pack and prepare for a sudden journey.
Bread must not be mixed with yeast—there might not be time to let it rise.
Also, a young, unblemished lamb was to be taken into each household. It was to be kept for four days, and then on the 14th day of the month the lamb was to be killed and its blood sprinkled on the doorposts of the home. The family within that structure was to eat the lamb, taking care not to break a single bone.

12 On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord!
God tells them in essence if the other plagues didn't work, its about to go down now. God tells Moses I'm going to personally pass through and strike down every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, both man and beast.
The Egyptian God will go down as well.
Somebody asked why?
He answers and says because “I Am the Lord.”
“I Am Who I Am” — “I absolutely am — I Am Who I Am”?
God is. What sentence could be more important in any language than God is?

Let me give you three things that the Blood of the lamb did for the people in this tough moment.

What was so important about the blood?

It represented the taking of a life.
Notice that this was a sign both to the Israelites and to their God.

God said, “The blood will be a sign for you … and when I see the blood” (v. 13, emphasis added).
What the blood signified to the Israelites was that they had a substitute, that a lamb had died in their place.
God was coming in judgment, armed with a deadly plague. But when they looked up and saw the blood on the door, they knew they were covered.

When God saw the blood He knew that a life had been taken.

Exodus 12:13
On the first Passover the Israelites huddled in their homes, waiting for God to come in judgment.
That night he would claim a life from every household in Egypt. All over the land they could hear the wailing of their enemies, who were mourning the death of their firstborn sons.
But the children of God were saved by the blood of the lamb.
Death passed over them.

The reason death passed over them was because they were under the blood.
When God came to the home of an Israelite, he could see the blood on the door.
When he looked at it he said in effect, “Someone has died in this house.
The penalty has been executed.”
the blood was a propitiation—it turned away the wrath of God.
The doorpost put blood between God and the sinner.
When the people looked up, they saw that they had an expiation—a covering for their sin.
When God looked down, he saw that they had made propitiation, and thus his wrath was turned aside.

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world ...
His Blood is a distinguishing mark sprinkled on our hearts.
